I've unfortunately not yet had the chance to see this young Norwegian artist perform on stage, which is a damn shame as not only have reliable sources said she is incredible live, but one of my first encounters with her music was a live clip on YouTube. It was her 2015 Nobel Peace Prize concert in Oslo performing the lead track from the album, 'Runaway'. I'm sure some would think it's a bit contrived, pretentious, whatever, but I don't see it that way at all. The most recent artist I'm into that I can recall receiving such criticism is of course Björk, who, if anyone knows her career, is the real deal. And I see a fair amount of parallels between her and Aurora. Of course there is the Scandinavian aspect, and both are downright quirky, but what I love about Aurora is she marries some of her obvious influences with a sharp individuality; she marches to the beat of her own drum. That is exactly what is going to make her fascinating to watch as she matures past her young age of 20. She conveys herself as a complete free spirit, and I think there is no further proof of the authenticity of that than her voice. This is an exciting and unique artist who demands attention, and more than likely will only increase in due time.
