Iceland is a picturesque place, perhaps annoyingly so? Filling up Instagram feeds for a few years now, the fear of an entire country wearing out its welcome is real. However, not until Iceland's full story is told, one with complexities as diverse as any nation's, will it avoid its fate of landing in the trendy one-hit wonder bin.
The new video from Jónsi, better known as singer/musician in Sigur Rós, does just that. Instead of shining light on just their home country's natural, otherworldly beauty, which truly must be seen to be believed, they bring attention to elements of life seen in every town and city the world over. It peels back a bit the touristy sheen, not to discredit what is a beautiful reality - but instead to show there is more to Iceland than what's been advertised. Despite it's very small size and population, Iceland's human side may even be more fascinating, of which there are many stories to tell.
