An acquaintance reminded me of this performance a few weeks ago. Not only of its existence, but what a big deal this was 30 years ago to have a young, pregnant goth punk rocker with her belly exposed (OH! THE HORROR!) on Icelandic national television "screaming like a dying banshee" as some like to describe Björk's beautiful, otherworldly singing voice. You may possibly notice that this band, KUKL, looks a lot like The Sugarcubes, and that's because after KUKL, four of the band members evolved into the new band Sykurmolarnir, which later gained global fame under the English translation, The Sugarcubes. A fun, fascinating piece of music history that must never be forgotten!
