Steve Schmidt's eloquence on the danger of Trump

HYDE PARK, MA - I've been meaning to post this one since it aired in mid-October, but alas, life happened I guess. Steve Schmidt is a Republican strategist whose biggest gig to date was running the day to day operations of John McCain's 2008 presidential bid. Since then he has appeared numerous times as a political analyst for MSNBC, and although I disagree with him on the issues for the most part, I've always found him to be sincere, incredibly thoughtful, eloquent and really an "old school Republican," like my grandfather, or his favorite president, Eisenhower. By "old school" I mean to have a conservative approach to government, like is practiced in places like in Canada, or New Zealand, versus the other approach of just getting rid of government. The control of today's GOP seemed to have been moving towards the more libertarian in thinking (basically getting rid of a federal, centralized government), but has quickly bypassed that for a more hard right approach, and nearly authoritarian when it comes to Trump. A little thing called the United States constitution of course prevents that from happening (though it's going through a tremendous stress test right now), but the foremost danger in Trump to me lies in his ignorance of, frighteningly, pretty much everything. He's a complete dunce, made worse by his constant need for praise and adoration, without the ability to even see when the adoration is complete bullshit. He is our "Dear Leader" on so many levels. Anyway, Schmidt was interviewed by another of today's sane Republicans (and former communications director for President George W. Bush), Nicolle Wallace, and I found it to be one of his more articulate appearances in describing the importance of the presidency, and how that is NOT what is going on right now with this "man" in the White House. He, she and other Republicans like him (also Michael Smerconish, Joe Scarborough, Charlie Sykes) who have been honest about the danger of Trump, well, I won't forget their resistance to falling in line, and instead rising about the politics and truly putting country above party. Click on the picture, yo!
